Research Focus
Yanrong Zhang focuses on advanced photonics, specifically in the area of non-Hermitian physics and exceptional points within optical systems. Her research explores phenomena such as parity-time symmetry, optical resonances, and metamaterials. Zhang has contributed to understanding high-order exceptional points in Moire lattices, exceptional singular resonances in gain-mediated metamaterials, and optical behaviors in parity-time symmetric systems. Her work also includes applications in molecular detection and protein sensing using engineered photonic crystals. Her research combines theoretical and experimental approaches to develop innovative solutions in photonics and metamaterials, enhancing the sensitivity and functionality of optical devices.
